Message visual on the pivot ball if you peel back the rubber boot and use a small flashlight. Being able to move the clutch fork that much (2" back and forth) would seem to indicate a broken pivot ball.

At least you know the problem is somewhere in the bellhousing. A 1.5" movement at the slave piston is enough to actuate the clutch, so you are OK from that point back to the clutch pedal.

From what we know now, I would think any fix would require you pull back the trans and either confirm diagnostics, and/or repair same. Either way, I'd get ready to drop the trans. But before you do, wait for a couple of other posts to confirm our guesswork to date. Gordo
